Hachas y corchas: saberes locales y dehesa en el sur de AndalucĂ­a

An analysis of cork harvesting makes it possible to interpret various socioecological elements in the southern Iberian Peninsula. We examined practices and links involving specialized collectives, their knowledge and the eco-physical context. Specifically, the ax used for harvesting cork oaks in southern Andalusia became a privileged intermediary between society and the environment. Studying the cork ax has allowed us to observe some of these relationships.
